The creator of Disney, Walt Disney, has made many kids happy, including myself, as they grow up. Most of us have watched hundreds of hours of Disney programs, seen various toys come and go, and had plenty of Disney books read to us before we even dreamed of one-day meeting Mickey Mouse in the flesh.
When I finally got the chance to visit Disney, I was overwhelmed because I’d driven from Las Vegas first thing that morning. In hindsight, we should have waited a day and spent the day at a nice hotel like IHG close to Disneyland rather than tiring halfway through the day.
Why Go To Disneyland As An Adult?
Nostalgia Is Strong. When we were there, it was hilarious as we could just keep laughing at all the different references we noticed. I think for whatever reason, we had the most fun with Donald Duck.
You Are Likely With Friends. Disneyland could be fun on your own, but hanging out with lots of friends is always better. I was lucky enough to be with friends from back home and it was a blast, having banter while waiting in lines and generally laughing at the silliness of the day.
You Get To Meet Mickey & Minnie Mouse. Lads, we have all owned something related to Mickey Mouse right? And ladies, Minnie Mouse dolls were the cutest! If you don’t mind waiting a bit in line, you can get a snap with Minnie and Mickey themselves. It’s a guaranteed hit on Facebook to get all the likes.
It’s A Bucket List Item Completed. Whether you have an active bucket list written down on paper or think bucket lists are a silly concept, Disneyland is a place you have said you definitely wanted to visit at some point in your life. It’s not a matter of when, as they say. It’s about the journey getting to Disneyland after consuming all of the company’s content.
Is Disneyland Worth Visiting As An Adult?
It’s Expensive. Park tickets for adults start from ~$80/day and quickly increase based on how many activities you want to do, the food you eat and souvenirs you buy. Myself, I’m happy fasting and waited to eat a big dinner later on that night and brought no food or drink while at Disneyland California.
There’s a Lack Of Adult Rides. If you are looking for thrill seeking, heart pumping, adrenaline rides at Disneyland, prepare for disappointment. Remember, the primary audience for Disneyland is kids so don’t complain!
Universal Studios Is Up The Road. In California and as far as rides go, they were way better as a thrill seeking adventurer.
However, you’ll still want to give Disneyland consideration, especially if you loved Disney merchandise as a kid. If nothing else, you’ll experience epic nostalgia.
So Should You Go Visit Disneyland Anaheim?
Dismiss any of the reasons I said above about not visiting Disneyland Anaheim. Whether you end up having the best day of your life or not, the memories and nostalgia of Disney are too strong to say no too.
If you have the time and money, go now!
