Merida is a cute historic town that’s getting more and more popular with tourists, both domestic and international. And with that, there’s now a Merida Airport bus. It’s cheap, fast, and reliable.

I’m not sure why this isn’t more widely known! If we can get more cars off the road and using buses, the narrow streets of Merida will appreciate you.

Note: This was as of October 2023.

What is the bus called?

The bus company is known as Va y Ven, and you can find the official information here.

How much does it cost?

45 pesos.

12 pesos with a social card, and free for those with disabilities.

The Va y Ven Merida Airport bus is nice!

How long does the bus take to get from/to Merida Airport?

From Merida Airport to the ADO Bus station (the Airport bus stop is here), it took 15 minutes.

Is there lots of space on the bus for luggage etc.?

Yeap, as you can see in the photo below, space isn’t an issue.

What are the stop?

The Merida Airport bus has 6 official stops in the town itself which you can see on the site linked above.

How often does the bus from Merida Airport go?

There’s at least one every hour, but usually every 30 minutes which is great. If you’re going from Merida to the Airport, they have signs at the bus stop with the timetable.

Make sure to check that before you head to the stop so you can plan in advance. I should have taken a photo of them!

Do I buy tickets on board?

Going from Merida to the Airport I got on board and paid once I got to the airport…I’m not sure if that’s normal?

At Merida Airport, you buy your ticket from the ADO bus ticket office at the northern end of the terminal (or you can try pay on board). See photo below.

If you’re thinking a shuttle/uber is the only realistic option to get from Merida Airport to the city centre, you’re wrong!

Take the bus 😀
